About 2 weeks ago, a guy from german chainsaw board wrote me there and asked for my
postal address, because he wanted to send me a packet. Since we have had forum conversations
during the last years I wasn't suspicious and sent him my address.
Last weekend his packet arrived: A +25 kg heavy weight when I had expected a tiny parcel ...

In it I found a complete saw including b&c

Yesterday I have tried to run the Rex after having replaced fuel lines and diaphragms.

When given fuel into the funnel she runs for a few turns but is not yet willing
to keep running on her own.
Repeatedly pulling her 125 ccm really tired me, wish the saw would have a decomp valve

My Rex had no spark when I got it. So the first thing was to get that going. Wound up cleaning and adjusting the points, replacing the condenser and the high tension lead. Then I did the same fuel stuff as you. Only I used a repair kit that had new needle and seat, Welch plug , diaphragms. I also replace the o ring seals and washers that go under the H and L needles when I do one of these HL carbs.
Took a little adjusting afterwards but I’m happy with it. Runs and cuts good.

You have a nice example of the Solo 70. Seems to run and cut good too! I have one but I don’t think it’s in as good as shape as yours. image.jpg
I’d say late 50’s early 60’s. I don’t know of a data base where it could be researched by serial number.

Thanks Guys, anyone know how to tell the year from the serial number? Or at least a range of when the 60112 Solo 70's were made?

Interesting, “SOLO SMALL-MOTORS” was (is) located not far from Stihl’s headquarters. I know there are forum members from Europe on here that will hopefully chime in on the DOM.

Assume the year 1964 as the year your Solo 70 was built.
It seems to be a little difficult to be more precise: Most internet sources claim the Solo 70
being introduced 1964 but most of the same sources claim the 626, being the successor
of the 70 - early 626 even being designated Solo 70 Mk II - appeared 1963 which
is difficult to understand when the successor is older than its predecessor.

Yes it isn’t listed on Alko U.K. neither it runs good after a tune up

it looks similar in design to the top handle that the mitox brand
Has on offer
