Like I said. I don't know the whole story but what I do know is that anytime somebody got screwed out of money on here they were always wanting Randy or another moderators help.

I dont know if you can really say that. Forums of all types have declined in usage with the advent of Facebook groups.
Although banning probably didnt help. IMO the only way a person should get banned is for scamming other members, period.
Sure, but there is a lot more to it than that, though. We have had individuals come on with multiple usernames just pestering people with their poasts. (Clue!). Some folks are unaware of our forum's rules of engagement, but some know them and just ignore them. Some folks just won't drop it and move on, carrying on with arguments that only serve to reduce the validity and thus the popularity of this forum.

Y'all are lucky I'm not the moderator. For what it's worth, this forum is no place for teen-girlish arguments or juvenile behavior. Take this thread as an example. In the first 23 pages you can find more than a a couple of petty quarrels. That's what faceplant is for, take it over there. In here, there should be debate, but not name calling and one liners and jabs. You have to know when to stfu. Some won't shut the f up, and don't understand how it ruins their rep. Some get banhammered for it.

Imagine an interested party coming to this forum to give or get info from an Internet search, and in a thread they encounter childish banter, arguing, name calling, juvenile behavior. CRINGE! It's embarrassing to see threads with this kinda crap, and makes us all look awful to genpop.

This is a f'ing manly forum, not the girls' locker room ffs.

I've been here about as long as you, and I don't know the whole story either, don't need to. Debating the details is just a distraction from the real issues, which always boil down to self interest. The players may change, but the roles don't.
For anybody celebrating Randy's departure, better get busy. He has been a prolific and valuable contributor here. It will take a lot of time and effort to replace that content.

I'm not sure if a lot of people know just how much work Randy was putting into this place. Being an admin is a heavy lift and he was taking on a lot of other work in addition to that. Plus he was hosting GTGs, running raffles, providing technical expertise for various matters, and running off spammers/scammers. He has thousands of hours of his own time invested here. He played a prominent role in pretty much every charity event that went on here. I think he donated somewhere around 33-34 port jobs.

Not to mention that he started this whole thang, bringing followers here to start something new, way back when. We all owe everything we have here to @Mastermind and I hope that when he cools down and gets unstressed, he'll come back without the responsibility and just have fun.

Dang.. that’s over $12,000 worth of port jobs on the low end.

Let’s not make it sound like Randy was the only one who donated port jobs. Many other porters have done the same thing. Maybe not as many as Randy but that doesn’t matter. We need to put aside our differences and move forward plain and simply.

His content is not going away he just may not add more. Randy was great at doing threads about new saws.

Fellas, I hope he doesn't come back.........and he and I have a great relationship. Not worth the stress. He may have enjoyed it but no doubt seeing some come out to dance on the grave so to speak would be the final nail (for me). His content may still be here but his willingness to be an unpaid asset is gone. I agree with the comment about getting busy, especially if you want the forum to stay afloat.

As far as putting aside the differences it doesn't appear to me this thread has promoted that whatsoever. Would have been so much easier to do that in the first place instead of letting it get to this point.

People change with age and no matter how hard they try, they can't help it. We've all seen it in real life with friends, family, neighbors, coworkers....... and it's no different in forums. As much as possible, try to appreciate them for what they were, not what they've done lately. In other forums I've seen long time members that made the place great get run off by new admins with an agenda. Members that did nothing to build the place, yet somehow got the keys to the banhammer closet and use it on older members who made the place, but aren't their old selves. Good forums can be a big part of people's lives. It's what makes them good forums. You can assume the time spent here is the only part of the day for some when they aren't lonely and miserable.
Give em a break.

From JJs post, I did not get he was implying, or making it sound like, Randy was the "only one" who donated port jobs. JJ was talking about Randy specifically; I just don't want to put words in other people's mouths. I have done it in the past, and it has never served me, or anyone else, well.

With that said, the donated port jobs and merchandise by this membership, other than Randy, is freaking astounding. I am blown away every time there is a charity event.

Well said Thomas but some people may take it differently than intended.

Stupid sarcastic idea, but maybe from now on we set aside one day per year to air grievances. Someone creates a *b-word thread and we let it all fly. The other 364 days a year we do our best to help and learn from the forum. We can either stew on *s-word forever and create bad blood or we agree on a spot to let it all out and hope to become friends again. 🙄😂
