If I haven't mention it said last week I bought a John-Deere model 410 back hoe .I found a forum on FB of antique JD back hoes which has been helpful with ideas because I know almost nothing about that machine .All I know is it weighes 14,000 pounds and makes 66 horse power and can dig 14.5 feet deep and lift around 5-6000 pounds .I've never been skunked on old machines by lack of knowledge ,I'll figure it out sooner or later

That mention of auctions brings up old memories .The "jockey's " those who buy low and sell high later will bid them up but only until there is no profit left then they drop out .Family members in an estate sale often get into bidding wars .They are buying it with inherited money . You have to be able to tell exactly who is doing the bidding .However it used to be fun to run them up then drop out and stick them with it .A dead giveaway is if the auctioneer uses "shills "those who just try to raise the price then afterwards attempts to sell it to you for a slight more money .

On the above I ran into that on a land auction which I won .The other bidder had no idea how deep my pockets were nor did he know how far I would go .He was looking for the timber rights ,I'd have stuck him if he kept it up much longer .Fact a couple weeks later he tried to buy the timber ,I didn't buy it sell .The way I look at is land is like money in the bank, they don't make any more of it .

Land auctions are very interesting. Lots of shenanigans going on.

E-bay can be about the same .They put on for example a chainsaw, brag it up then 10 minutes before it sells stop the sale .A week later the same saw, same picture shows up again from a different seller who is exactly the original using another name .I once followed an SP 1000 Mac ( Partner P-100 ) appear 3 or 4 times in a month . I think that guy was looking for $1200 .15 years later I ended up two and don't have $400 in the pair of them
