After saying screw Matco after they had a bad run of ratchets and no parts to fix them I got some snap on dual 80 stuff and the locking flex head isn’t much better. I hated the non locking flex heads and ended up buying some Gearwrench stuff for locking flex heads but you are limited on longer handles. Called Matco recently about warranty repairs on the crap ratchets and they sent me parts to fix them without a fight so I filled the rest of the holes and added some longer 3/8 matcos that bought used. One more ratchet is in eBay limbo. The 84 tooth gearwrench stuff is holding up fine. The 1/4 snap on stuff is good but I usually grab something else.IMG_6670.jpeg

I beat the crap out of a g1 long 3/8 flex and never had an issue. I got a g2 version of it and it’s fairly new but it’s been good. I have a shorter flex g1 that locks up but it never gets used and probably will break it. I have them in my junkyard bag so they get exhaust pipe cheaters and the handles beat on to get seat bolts and over tightened lugs off.

I have a few Matco 88 and Snap on 80 ratchets. The Matco handles are nice, but the ratchet heads are no better than the Gear Wrench 84 tooth ones. The kits will even swap right in. The snap on feels tighter and smoother. The Gear Wrench 120’s are my favorite though.

Picked up this 1990 262xp with a scored am cylinder and an HDA87 carb, also came with a new am piston/cylinder kit which I wont install which someone paid $112 for in 2016.

The snap on guts are definitely better but the non locking flex sucks when you are stuck on rusty hardware. Try to shake it off and you just end up with rust bath. Theres a 120xp long 3/8 in the picture. I have the older version of that on my service truck and that handle flexes like crazy but the head never skips. I have a few 120xps on that truck. The 1/4 ratchet has a ton of time on it and it’s great. Snap on needs to make the slide lock again. I have that on a 1/2 dual 80 and it’s a good ratchet

Yeah, my Snap on ones have the side sliding lock. I much prefer that over any other locking mechanism.
