Did the 10 amp transformer fry or some of the rectifier bridge stuff?
Maybe oversize some of the gizzards . I can't help you with Tech stuff, I have a 'LIL Brother helps me out if he has time.

It cooked a couple years back when I had it hooked to the bat in truck. Started truck and let the magic smoke out,.....brain was on autopilot and used to using the schumacher with engine start,.....doh!

Not sure why it happened,....seems a no brainer to have some diodes in circuit whatever the style of charger.
