The salesman asked if he was paying cash or finance. Grandpa said cash of course. When the time came for him to pay he reached into his bib overalls and took out a red handkerchief. Inside was a stack of cash and he paid for the truck.
That is the way to do it, buy what you can afford with cash!

Good luck with that now what could be afforded with cash for me wouldn’t be much and pretty hard to save 1000$ a month for the next 5-6 years without a vehicle for work.

Note: I hate AI but hell it is better than a shot in the dark........well sometimes at least
Using AI it says the new price of a 1970 Chevy C-10 was $2254-$3589.
Using AI again it says the base price of a 2025 Silverado is $38,995

In 1970 the federal minimum wage was $1.60.
In 2025 our Illinois minimum wage is $15.00

Of course Grandpa was not working for minimum wage but this should still serve as a comparison.
Using those figures in 1970 it took between 1409 and 2243 hours to buy the new truck
Using those figures in 2025 it would take 2600 hours to buy the new truck

My ETank is cleaning a cast iron tortilla press someone painted for some reason at this moment
Checked it today and half the paint was gone
Should be clean the next time I check it.
Got a rusty pipe cutter that goes in next
