I'll play with the 351 cylinder over Christmas and then assess

I did a BGD, knocked the rough edges off the cylinder and slipped a HyWay popup into one of the 45mm closed port 353's. It didn't suck. But it didn't stay either. Guy who bought it loves it, but he doesn't have a 346 to compare it to.

These should probably be in “you suck”.

Drove too far (but wife’s car gets good mpg) to get the Dolmar cheap (melty piston) and then like a dummy didn’t make sure they had all the parts in the box (got parts?- air filter and clutch cover, those things are $$$)

...but I scored this 61 which has enough parts (and bar, I’m short on bars) to get the 1st 266xp project going (except the darn top cover). Tensioner, bar oil plug, handle, cases, air filter, nicer starter, trigger parts, etc. Actually, it’s also not very beat up so it will probably be more like the 266 PnC going on the 61. Porting numbers? Might as well while it’s all apart...

61 cyl might clean up, we’ll see. What do y’all think?

Oh, and the chunk of wood. I stopped to pee outside town where people go to off road and unfortunately dump trash too. I saw all these big chunks of Burl and had to grab one. :D

Actually about a week's worth of purchases. My project 026:

c9ab48ab28c36e47a2c4d67b639c64fb.jpg

Carb, piston, most of the rubber is new. The saw itself is as dirty as ... A very dirty thing.

I managed to bend the contact spring right off the bat, making the master switch stick. My attempts to bend it back into shape moved the kill wires enough to cause a short.

Fixed the short, but decided to replace the wires. Turned out cheaper to buy the whole coil assembly. Ordered coil, new contact spring and switch shaft, pressure/vac tester, flywheel puller, shop manual and IPL plus whatever I forgot I ordered. I'm totally saving money by buying a used saw!

Seriously, this is just a fun/educational project, and as I tell my wife, "It's still cheaper than a boat!"

...my dirty saws are dirtier. :D

...and tell your wife nobody ever pays you to use a boat. ;)

Throw the plastics in the dishwasher when she's not looking.

Or get yourself one if you're gonna continue this nonsense.

Thanks Rodney. Let’s not go that far. When you’re getting divorced you’re supposed to buy a new truck right?
You lucky s.o.b. in an Australian divorce you are lucky if you walk away with this.

Having brought up 3 kids on my own no kid cost that much and I have one that some will say is special needs don't like that term myself

It’s a stupid amount of money. Part of its alimony to one of the ex’s. It will drop off in 2 years at least.
