What rear end gear ratio you got in that truck?

It’s 3.54 with the electric locker.

I’m taking it to Montana and back next week, so maybe a little highway driving (2000 miles or so) and some non-Ca diesel will put up some better mileage numbers. I hope.

Well. This happened last night. :(

I’m starting to think I need to delete the DPF & DEF systems.

Just tossing out an educated guess, but I'm going with the reductant tank heater.
The GM and Ford ones look identical and likely made by same company, just a different wiring connector.

I checked it using my buddy’s scanner and this is the code...

I’m headed to the dealer today to drop it off.

Headed for the dealer (two hrs. away!)... message popped up that it was “cleaning exhaust filter” and the DEF fault message went away. I’m dropping it off at the dealer anyways.

I guess we’ll take my dad’s old 6.0 Powerstroke/ZF6 truck to Montana, and the dealer can have my truck all week. I was looking forward to taking my truck, but I guess it will be fine.

Told the service writer what was going on and he thinks with the frequent regens and DEF fault that the DPF might be partially plugged... he wouldn’t say if it was something that would be covered by warranty or not.

This is a big dealership and he said it’s very common... I guess trucks come in for this same thing all the time.

That sucks. Deletes may be your best bet or trying to lemon law it.

Do you drive a lot of short distance trips? Idle the truck much?
Biggest problem with the newer def and egr systems is that the trucks equipped with these systems don’t get worked hard or driven any real distance for the systems to fully get up to temperature.
If you’ve had turbo issues previously this would also contribute to a plugged up dpf filter. I’d be asking the dealer if the filter is soot loaded or ash loaded.

I’d trade that bish right back in where I bought it. If I remember correctly clint said this truck sat in the lot for almost a year before he bought it. That had red flag written all over it imho

Probably part of the reason a fairly new truck with 18,000 miles was sent to auction.

I’ve owned it since Oct. I think and it’s been to the dealer four times that I can think of. Now five.

If they tell me it’s done, and all they do is reflash the computer, I swear I’m gonna go off on someone.

I would think that is one of the things they will be checking for... especially since the service writer mentioned it when I was dropping off the truck.

I do haul heavy loads (20-25,000 lbs gross) at least once every few weeks, and I do lots of in town driving... and probably once a week I drive to another town about an hour away. So a decent mix.
