Forgot to answer the rest of your question, I tinker around making knives, restoring antiques, etc. I like to mess with colonial-era stuff, I've restored quite a few colonial items. Just hobbying with it. I got too many irons in the fire....literally....lol
Many likes and hobbies and not nearly enough time or $$$ to do them....

No worries bud. I’m hoping to build a propane forge for knives. I already do stock removal knife making so I’d like to move up and try forging some stuffForgot to answer the rest of your question, I tinker around making knives, restoring antiques, etc. I like to mess with colonial-era stuff, I've restored quite a few colonial items. What you up too?
You gonna make yours from one piece of metal or multiple layers hammer forged together to make one piece of metal? I've seen the multiple layer job done and made a stronger and better knife blade. No worries bud. I’m hoping to build a propane forge for knives. I prefer to bolt them also. I usually drill the holes a little big and tack a nut inside the muffler.Yes I do and so does work haha. I'm still going back and forth on welding it or bolting it on so I can have a screen underneath it.

I wouldn't try welding that thin of a muffler... these seem to be thinner than 372, etc. mufflers. Plus these are hard to find as it is. No longer made covers...
Brazing it was toying with warpage. I kept the two halves attached to each other to keep them from warping.
Probably try a little bit of everything as usual lolYou gonna make yours from one piece of metal or multiple layers hammer forged together to make one piece of metal? I've seen the multiple layer job done and made a stronger and better knife blade.
