If i ever get a chance to take a pic there's a very old heavy machine gun barrel imbedded
In a oak at my sisters house.
The barrel is sticking out of the tree lol

I used some muriatic acid and it cleaned up really well, those sanding marks were on it, I did not sand on it.
I oiled it up & stood it in the corner.
There's a #3 stamped on the other side so I guess it's a 3 pound head.
The edges are in good shape.

I found this axe head many years ago at the site of an old logging camp on the Spruce river about 30 miles south of Superior Wis.
This area was logged around 1920. I talked to an old guy tending bar at the Moose Jct. saloon sometime in the 70's, he said he walked down from Superior in 1919 to Danberry & got a job as a muleskinner in the logging camp, that would be nigh onta 40 mile.
This axe is quite rusted but I have drawn what I believe is the mark, it is very hard to make out.

My 88 year old neighbor brought me this.
He bought this Kelly's over 50 years ago similar pattern to my red head
But a bit thicker i'm going to fix it up for him.
Check out his 1997 honda 500.

The one with the " S " on it was my Grandpa's. The other one was in my shed after I bought my house.

I posted this custom walnut axe my fil made for me quite a few pages back. A couple of months ago we were talking about it and I made an off handed comment about using that axe to drive wedges. We both had a good laugh. Anyway I came home this weekend and these were laying on my bench.
