Still like the little Husqvarna forest axe. Nice for getting these few limbs off that have dirt on them from being dragged. Just a handy to have around tool.

I won't go out into the woods without my pickaroon. It's a must have.

You stick it in a piece of wood you want to move and either pick it up or drag it if it's long. The pile of wood was all done with the pickaroon.

Gambles Artisan. Don't know any history other than it was Grandpa's and I think there use to be Gambles hardware stores.

Are there different brands of picyunes?
Any better brands than others?

There's Hookaroons, they are better for pulling, I have one for pulling slabs off the sawmill. Not great for firewood. Stihl made an all metal version, not sure if they stihl have it or not.

Oh, I know all too well. I have a double bit Collins that was my other Grandpa's, an old Keen Kutter I found in a Goodwill store that appears to be made by Kelly and one I found out in Black Hills National Forest that I'm guessing was a fire fighter or wood cutter. I have the bug!!!!

Loggers here love 'em, the one I have was actually found out in the woods and given to me, the handle was rotten, so after putting a new axe handle on it and pinning it, was good to go. The nice part about the pickaroon like I have it when you sink it into a piece of wood, it will grab. Actually takes a bit to get it to come off. Even a good size piece of firewood can be lifted. I would think any of the supply stores listed would ship yo a pickeroon. As for length, that depends on how tall you are. I like about a 32 inch myself.

OREGON makes a version of a pick/hookaroon I believe as well.

Your plum dun fer already then. All we gotta get yet is a couple pickitoons to collect yet. I think I'm gonna go to the antique shop and try to find me an old school one.
