I said to myself that I will no longer split knots, but noodle them.
Yeah, no can do - splitting is faster!

Keep in mind that ax head is only about 4 lbs, 1.8kg - but hung to a custom made 40"/1 meter handle.

That's awesome. Some of the knots I've split are almost too pretty to burn......almost!
I am a metal guy, I have no interest in wood turning.
It looks cool and stuff, but that's it.
To me knotty wood is better firewood due to its higher density.

Link to the handles Please Kind Sir. Second Pic.
Those are Whiskey River Heritage 30C handles. They've been out of stock for more than a few weeks at this time.

When making my own ax handle out of long grained hardwood , I would want to follow the grain, correct?

Also, do I want the heart?

I will soon need a new 40+" long handle for my Dragonslayer ax.
I want to try utilize Cornelian Cherry!
Local old folk swears on it for hammer, sledgehammer and maul handles.
I have made two Cornelian Cherry hatchet handles so far and they are holding up great.

I know next to nothing regarding wood turning.
Any and all help/input is appreciated!
Thank You

@ All-Of-Yall

This is the piece of Cornelian Cherry that I harvested for the purpose of making an ax handle out of.
It is as straight as brush grown Cornelian Cherry gets, and thankfully it is a long enough stem piece to make a 40+" long handle out of.
It seasoned for about a year now and there are no cracks length wise.
This stuff is hard and heavy, I will get a workout turning it down without specialized wood turning tools.
