Looks like GL?NINGS
Yes it is second line is CHAMPIONTake some yellow or white marker and go over it. Than sand or brush it off. May help it stand out. I use chalk if it's handy.
Looks like a two line stamp.
Checked again on yesteryear tools site. Looks like the R.KING axe was made by Collins axe co.Here is another one, three lines.

My research says it’s old not sure.
I got a couple of these last year from whiskey river they are some really nice splitting axes for a decent price.Got a new Council FE6 and Council 5lb splitting axe. Nice heads. I think they're going to be nice additions!

Wow I've used mine for a wedge banger and splitting for over a year and neither one worked loose. Maybe they were rushing to get them out and the wood wasn't dried well enough when they hung them?Both heads came loose in under 10 minutes. So the hang sucks, but the heads are great! That's where I got mine from, Whiskey River. That 5 lber is awesome! And they are definitely priced good.
