This piston is out of a Dolmar 5100S and I was wondering if I could clean / polish it up and reuse it with a new ring?
What's it for? I'd say no.

I did see that after I replied. I don't believe there is a Meteor for the 5100 and those pistons aren't cheap!Dolmar 5100S
Polishing the area having the carbon scar only above the bottom of the wrist pin to the top. No need to touch the skirt area. It will be best served with a very rough finish to retain some oil. 120 grit and... run it.
That looks great. What are you using? This is where I'm at so far.
What do you think?

Stay off the skirt area. Grey streak spots mean nothing imo. This is where I'm at so far.

I agree. That is why I'm going to finish it off tomorrow... I don't like cleaning ring lands, time consuming and meticulous.Looks serviceable. My biggest concern now would be the ring land, definitely don't want it to stick a a ring.
Get some 600 grit in there, if you don't feel it catch and you don't see anything obvious it will be fine.I agree. That is why I'm going to finish it off tomorrow... I don't like cleaning ring lands, time consuming and meticulous.
