I'd actually be quite happy if that was the reason for the increase. It would only be a temporary thing if it was. This likely isn't temporary at all.

I'd doubt any of the cost increases we are seeing will come down fully. I remember after hurricane Katrina shingles went from $70- $100 a square locally, they blamed it on Katrina well fast forward several years and shingles were still basically $100 a square, maybe $90 if you shopped around.
Inflation is what 7.5% now? My 2% cost of living raise is hardly a spit in the wind compared to what everything costs today.
One more thing, oil, filter and wiper blades for mine and my wife's vehicle. 2 filters, 5 wiper blades and 15 quarts of oil $190 ouch! And that's me doing the work.

In one month Rural King bar and chain oil went from $4.99 to $7.99.
And you will be glad you got it at $7.99 , it will be going up. Just like everything else. Imagine what the real inflation number is? We just added $6T in the last year. Not being political, just stating a fact. Both colors of politicians are to blame.

Plan accordingly.

I just read an article about oil prices - oil is expected to reach $120/barrel by this summer and stay at that level for a while due to OPEC's decreased production capacity as a part of the pandemic.

So yeah, anything oil or fuel related is going to be more expensive. The U.S. has increased its' own production capacity so will be some minor offset of that for us.

Unfortunately, whenever fuel prices increase, shipping costs go up. A lot of what we need to buy comes from far away, so price increases happen across the board. Sucks.

Things are getting pricy for sure. I realized early on I needed to charge a shop supplies fee to my customers, just doesn’t work out otherwise.

When fuel prices get stupid, we end up putting a fuel surcharge to our customers. Heck, our customers sell fuel, and when they get a fuel delivery, they get a fuel surcharge. Someone always has to pay for the increase costs, especially when you are working on small margins. And that someone, is always at the bottom of the hill. We all know what rolls down hills.

7.5% inflation is just the average, some stuff, like housing has gone up 30% in the last year. We are printing money to cover our debt, I feel now is going to be the newish normal, unfortunately. Or a serious depression is looming, but it doesn’t feel that way, wages have gone up across the board, and prices have gone up even more. It’s a sad hole, but people are still wanting to grow and buy, so I thing this bubble is going to keep floating, still a lot of demand out there

the problem here is that the minimum wage is 14 and that is great but people on that wage still can afford to live off of that amount milk is three buck a gallon and we are a state where there are a lot of dairy farms.

Everything is relative, the poverty line in San Francisco is $107k a year, stuff costs more or less in place based on many factors. I live next to a cheese factory, it cheaper to buy the milk at a chain store than from anywhere else, milk has been $3 a gallon for years here, sometimes $2 on sale, hell if it was $5 a gallon life wouldn’t change that much. If housing goes up 100k in a year…that’s a killer, or rent goes up $500+ a month, it’s a killer, if you commute at all or drive for work, $1.5 dollars a gallon can kill!! In California people are paying $7 a gallon in places

I fear we are in for a rough ride. The money has value as long as people believe it has value. Our only saving grace is that we are still the world's reserve currency. I imagine there are people that might want to get off the dollar, and if they do the jig is up. I am no fan of our monetary policies. Thank that crew from Jeckle Island. I hope I am wrong about the coming financial tsunami.
