Was looking for a piston kit for an Alpina Prof 70 on DLA engine parts website (AKA “The Greek”).

Kit was reasonable around forty bucks.[emoji106]

Shipping listed as $113.00 !!! [emoji90]

WTF!!

Dimitris (the Greek) usually uses the postal service for shipping, as do I. It's the cheapest and most effective method available here.

Due to this freaking coronavirus, almost all commercial flights have been halted in and out of Greece. Most, if not all, postal services piggy back on commercial airlines to transport mail.

So, I'm guessing that price quote would be for a commercial carrier, ie., DHL, Fedex, UPS, etc.

I've canceled most of my eBay chainsaw bar orders, as I just can't find reasonable shipping. I'm researching whether I can ship with DPD. I hear it's pretty good.

While I’ve got you here, what is parts availability in Europe for this Alpina Prof 70?

Besides a piston kit it will need an AF cover and a sprocket drum.

I’m on the fence weather to tare it down or just park it on the shelf with the other non running [emoji2960]place holders.

If you don't find what you need, shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can come up with.

I’m in the UK, and was going to get a Meteor piston from Greece, same seller mentioned earlier, and I’d bought one from him before, great seller. Noticed the postage was £113.50, thought I’d better wait until this COVID-19 settles down.
I could fly to Greece and back myself for less than the postage quoted at the moment.

@mgr1 It was an MS261 piston, but I sourced a used OEM one from the UK. I’m looking at building another saw at some point, but that won’t be until the current situation has calmed down.

I've kinda put off all unnecessary chainsaw repairs/rebuilds until this catastrophe is over, if it ever is. The parts from Europe are almost impossible to get, especially Greece and Italy and the Chinese orders take a long time to get here. I don't really blame them, they're fighting for their lives over there too.

3 days ago i recieved an order from UK.Postage was like 8£ so i highly doubt 113£ from Greece to UK is accurate.I am not sure what is going on though.

It looks like the list of countries is slowly expanding again for our postal service (ELTA). Before the update on the 30th it only showed 7 countries available for shipping.
