you drive the nail in and set the blade on the nail if level its balanced if one side is lower then you take a little bit off the heavy side i usually take off on the back side of the blade it doesnt normally take much to balance

I have a Work Sharp Ken Onion edition that does a fantastic job on mower blades, shovels, knives, shears, etc..

How long does it take to sharpen ones made of good steel?

I can 2nd that on the G6 blades. Whatever they did for Fusion really hardens the steel. But once sharp, it stays sharp longer. [emoji106]

I use the fine wheel on my bench grinder or air powered die grinder. What I find most important is, maintain the original angle as much as possible, made easier by going slow and using a good light source. I have one of the little pyramid balancers but find my finger works just as well. Rocked out blades, I just resharpen and save for occasions where I might encounter more rocks. I use Stens high lift blades on all my mowers. They are cheap, easy to resharpen, and really spit out the clippings.
