John deere Z225 motor swap

Good afternoon gents
So I've got a deere Z225 Zero turn mower. Fairly low hours at around 400ish. It's a decent little 48" mower. The original 18hp briggs single cylinder is in my opinion a little bit underpowered if you mow anything very thick at all.
My solution is to attempt a motor swap. I have acquired an almost new Briggs and Stratton 24hp platinum w/XRD twin cylinder motor. I believe I can get it to work on my mower chassis.
Does anyone have any wiring diagrams on how to just do the basic wiring on this engine so I can bench test it and check everything out before I tear my mower apart?? I got it from a friend and believe what he says about the motor but still want to hear it myself before I embark down this path.

The chassis and drivetrain was designed to match the engine. If you hotrod this mower, you may have problems with parts breaking or wearing out prematurely. Like burned out belts for instance.
Having said that, check the engine mounting bolt patterns and crankshaft diameter and length to make sure this engine will bolt up.
This is a larger engine, make sure it physically will fit without something hitting the frame.
To test start your engine, you just need to run battery voltage to the shutoff solenoid on the carburetor, if it has one.
Starter hookup is not difficult. Post a picture of the starter on your replacement engine and we can guide you on that.

I did this with a riding mower mostly wired the same throttle cable for the twin was longer so I just ordered one for a 24hp twin,worked great

Should be plug and play for everything... i worked at JD for 7 years, chassis of a z225 is the same as a 235/245, which the latter of came with a 22hp briggs twin... if the plugs match up, you can plug it in... i just recently serviced a ln older frame z235 that had a briggs opposed twin retrofitted to it....

Thanks for the replies everyone. So the shaft length and diameter is the same on both motors. I got the new motor running on a little test stand I threw together. I have since removed the little 18.5hp single cylinder motor.

I got the 24hp platinum v twin set on the chassis. Unfortunately none of the mounting hole options in the chassis will line up with the new motor. Not a huge deal. Just squared everything up on the chassis and drilled new holes. The wiring did in fact turn out to be plug and play.
The throttle cable on the other hand isn't going to work. I believe it's going to be quite a bit to short. The exhaust ports on this new motor are far enough back I think it'll be pretty quick and easy fabricating something.

Update...this thing has fought me the entire time. It went on fairly easily and without incident. Once I got the motor started though I couldn't ever get it to idle down. I finally figured out the internal governor had came apart. I had to pull the motor back off and open up the lower end. Got the governor replaced and got the motor put back on. It took some time but I fabricated a round below deck 2 into 1 muffler setup and made a heat shelf for it.
The top plate that sits above the motor on the back has to be trimmed out also to clear the new motor.
I used it yesterday evening though and holy crap. This thing is a power house now. I can mow at about half to 3/4 throttle in some tall thick grass and it doesn't even begin to bog down. Way more power then it needs....which is just the way I like it.
I ordered a set of wheel spacers yesterday also to make room for a wider set of ATV tires. That stuff should all be here in a few days.
