There is a Vallee dealer in the Florida panhandle, he brought me a mill to Virginia. Google them and take a look, I can cut 21’ with mine.

Ill give them a call on Monday. I like how yours has tandem axles. On the Wood Mizer they want almost 2 grand for their road package, that consists of a tongue and two wheels.

Got quoted on a LT15 with go package today. Anyone know about the Woodmizer?

I ran an.lt40 for awhile. Woodmizer has an excellent service and technical support for their customers! Lots of advantages with the one rail system also.

Is there much of a return on a mill? 12k worth of a mill needs to be making money in my eyes or it would have to be a hell of a hobby to justify.

Do any of you make money with a mill?

I paid almost $14K for mine and have never sold a board that came off of it (though I have given some away).

15 year's a local guy has sold
What he cuts for the customer on the customers
Property
Helpers are required by the customers
He just cuts what you tell him
He stayed extremely busy not sure of his profit margin
But this was outside his full time job
So he didn't have to rely on it.

I didnt think about doing it that way. That would make sense.

In our area we have lots of cypress I had thought about selling fire place mantles, beams and such.

If you do not have access to a kiln, it will take 1-2 years of air drying for the lumber to be usable (other than for applications allowing for green wood). Milling lumber is like distilling spirits or making wine, you do not realize results until several years down the road.

while you can sell green wood, the market is limited. Most people do not want to wait months or years to do their project. Every step you take with a log can have the potential to double its value.
