I cut a huge oak tree down and when cutting into 16" round lengths, I found the only 1/2 eye bolt in the entire tree. Lol
I cut right threw it. I literally had no teeth left on the chain at all. Lol
I wish I could be that lucky when I gamble. [emoji2]

I came across this chain I got when I bought a saw. It was from a tree company. Extremely worn almost to the witness marks. It is a 20" 3/8" .050 round skip chain. This chain was totally FUBAR'd. I got to thinking, I wonder if this would make a nice race chain. So I started to clean it up. It was really a mess. Still is. Lol
I squared it up and through it on my Hacked up 660. What else is there to do on a sunny, cold day right?
Out to my pile I go. I shot 3 vids of cookie cutting and noodling. I was really surprised at how well this chain worked based on the condition of the chain. I had to square it and lower the rakers and clean the gullets.

Saw was tuned a bit rich by choice due to cold weather.

I’ve had a few that were in near the same shape. Have always been pretty impressed as to how well they will still cut. I have sharpened a few to the point that it was throwing teeth. I think it was finally time for the trash can at that point. Lol

Looks like the rakers could be dropped another 3 swipes

I will try that Mike. Thanks. As I said, the chain was FUBARd. Lol
I actually took about 10 strokes off each raker. But only checked them by eye because I wasn't even sure the chain would cut. Lol
I gotta go and give it a real good once over. [emoji106]

1/6 of gullet width or even lower.
