Even though I'm not a logger, when going any distance into the woods, I totally agree with that assessment, but would add the 044/440. When you get a good running one, they are hard to beat.

The 440 was so respected that after they replaced it with the 441, they had to re-introduce it … and charged more for an old tech 440 than for a newfangled 441!!!
Funny you say that about the 440, I got a used one that I loved. Ended up retiring it for a 460 for a while, then had a 372xt I didnt like, then the dolmar 7910 I loved....had that for years

This 365XT was a turd stock with a 24” bar in oak, was 6 seconds slower than a stock 462 and way behind my 7900.
I decided that I was going to have to fix that and converted to a 372XT and applied the recipe to it that I did to the other one we have. Strato intact.
Whips a stock 572 with a 28” bar in maple and cuts about as fast as my modded 7900 now, just less torque.

LMAO. Nice gain with the Hooskie 365/372.
Run your Stihl 064 FTW! lol

Nice job Kevin with the Hooskie 372!
11.4 seconds
10.3 seconds.Well we know as a baseline the 7900 beat it. Both have stock out of box exl chain. But I messed with the 064 some and not now I’m sure ;). I’ll get a comparison sometime soon.

Stock broken in 572 (same one I compared to 365/372xt). 12.16 seconds
462 with a muffler mod. (I compared a stock one to the 365/372). 14.25 seconds
stock 500i on its first or second tank of fuel running Dallas chain (very impressive saw for stock and incredible chain as well). 10.52 seconds

YES. We have all found that out. It's all in the chain. [emoji106]
We all get these fast ported saws and put crappy chain on them sometimes. Maybe we could work on our chains and make the stock saws go faster.
You know what I mean. Lol
Ported saws will go even faster!
