I timed the cuts after a mm/slight ta the 421 gained 30%. Some saws need porting to gain that much. I haven’t even tested the new mesh filter yet or the modified carburetor. Squish is about .020 out of box and compression feels pretty good. Doesn’t seem like they left much on table in there.

How much of a TA did you do? Did you try the advance all by itself?

Really mild, only .010 off the key to see if it liked it (which equated about 1/2 a fin counterclockwise I think). Seemed to improve throttle response and torque. It’s tricky because the key is cast in and there is not much room to fit a burr. You don’t want to slip and eff up the taper surface of flywheel.

I haven’t even fitted stihl ps chain... that’s probably another gain over the stock semi chisel chain. Amazing how much these little saws gain from simple mods.

Paging Dolmarboy, Huskyboy, aka Mason...... Good to hear you are playing with your Dolmar 421. I have here a hard to find stock Dolmar 7900 orange top saw sitting on the shelf. Everytime I look at it, I think of Mr Deets066 Solo saw. Those Solo saws look great and are hard to find.

This 7900 will keep your 421 company. I am getting older now and I would like to see this 7900 go to a good home. I know you like to tinker with saws and this would be a good candidate for you next saw....

Tell your Mom, Dad, and little brother, that Jackie Chin said hello.

Send me a PM if I can be of assistance. I will upload some pictures this afternoon.

Jack
