All I have in my area to "legally" cut is lodgepole/jack pine. Not as sappy as the ponderosa. I only own 3 saws, 2101XP, 075, and Mac 797. Most saw shops here in the PNW only sell 3/8 so that's what I've dialed my saws into run. I've read many articles on skip vs full comp and I'm sure there is a difference, especially in the type and size of wood you are cutting. For me and the big cubes it's 3/8 full skip with the rakers dropped quite a bit. I don't own any fancy filing *s-word, or raker gauges, I can tell when it's time to drop em. They are firewood saws also. So if I happen to rock em by chance I got less cutters to file. All are 36" bars.

I work on more stihls than huskies. While I'm searching for cases for the stihls the huskies are working. I hope the 661 cases stand up better than the 46 and 66.
I don't have much trouble out of a 066/660 case but I have a truck load of 044 and 046 cases that are beat out on the pto side.
Makes me want to run a big bar and kicking chain on mine. Lol
My brother in law had my first year 046 and it got to where it wouldn't idle down
Case is shot on it now to.

I think 7 or 8 of the last 12 sets of cases the bearing spins by hand in the case

Isn't that where skip and semi-skip come into play? Move and clear out chips.

Yessir , i went back and forth if i liked skip or not...i like it.

Ive seen guys assume just because they see mulch pourin out of a clutch cover that the chain is fast..not true.

Seems to me that the chain that gets rid of the wood the best would be the fastest.
I don't know anything about chain making though

Timing advance on a limited coils. Not sure if this is for all limited saw coils.
