i dont know if you have ever tried a 404 8pin,it takes a lot of saw to run one much less run it well.

To be honest I've never run .404 on any of my saws. Most everything I have I've got set up to run 3/8.
I do have a couple big 3/8 sprockets and I can make up a couple aggressive 3/8 chains. Should be fun.

only reason i ever run 404 is to show how strong a saw is. it takes considerably more power to run than 3/8
404 8pin is bout the same size as a 3/8 9pin.

My mac 101 geardrive is running 404 on a 9 pin rim and i would really like to try a 10 on it. The rakers are down 50 thou and could still use more chain.

the 064/056 is 98.5cc but has nothing close to the grunt of a 101,it does however weigh less than 17lb fueled.

I'm running a 9pin 3/8 and 28" bar on mine and I'm having a hard time to find a piece of wood big enough to tune the carb. Here is a 8 compare to the 9



Here is the 9 mounted on the saw. I still haven't taken the time to make any video's yet.

I thought I had a picture of the 8 pin 404 next to the 9pin 3/8 but I don't. The 8 pin is bigger

I only run 404 on my 066. I have put an 8 pin sprocket on it for its next outing to see how it runs it.

If it's lacking it will be a good excuse to go back in and raise that intake a few degrees

Is that a standard spline on the rim Lee. Or specific to the macs?

Standard 7 spline, Some of the older Homelites like the 2100
have there own 6 spline.

404 8 takes a lot when ya got a sharp chain and low rakers

If everything goes as planned I should have 7 or 8 saws with me. All ported of course
