Saw this 460 running today

Seen a tenant using this today so thought I'd see what he was running ?
Was a ms460 using it to cut pallet planks.






So I talked to this guy he said they bought it at a dealer in Lexington $775 out the door what do guys think ?

The tank looks narrow to me. I'm guessing it's a 460 with a 440 tank

A knockoff of a 440 or a 460? Looks like a 440 to me, but ya never know what is underneath.

How did it run? That is a lot of money for a knockoff.

Dealer ran the number came back to a 880 from 2012 in Illinois sold to road crew ? Be careful

The serial number on the saw doesn't match the number on the paper.

but the tag on top is wrong also it is a 440 the 460 is about a half inch wider and the air filter cover is one piece like the 660

I heard him running it which caught my attention but stopped before I got over there. So I asked him about it. He said they just bought it was hard to start they said it needed canned fuel and bogged in the slats, I think you can see in one of the pics looked like a 28" bar ? Not sure.

Pretty sure it's a 460 that's been put together with Chinese parts. Look close at the crackcase beside the muffler above the oil cap. It's has the big square corner and not the angle like the 440

I didn't check paper work ? Yes good call. But did take air filter cover off filter after market clutch cover aftermarket, no up stickers no sticker on handle or front ? And it was new I think today was first day he ran it. Also decomp plug not right.

I'd have to double check but I'm pretty sure my ms260 has the Stihl insignia with the serial number.

Lines don't match up, no black lines like the real ones, after market muffler. No markings for carb adjustments ?
I think straight up Chinese ?

I've seen numbers in either direction.

And while we're pointing stuff out, that's not an OEM DP muff cover.
