Italian gunmaker Chiappa now sells a rifle that is a inexpensive copy of the 39, the LA322. Looks like it would be serviceable enough and you wouldn't worry about it getting dinged up like a nice 39.

I have an 1890's Marlin 39A that was my fathers, he got it used in the late 50's. Still shoots great!

Have you gotten any of those in the shop?
I thought they looked interesting but didn't want to order one, until I had a chance to look at and handle one.

No, the only lever actions we ever get are Henry's. Looks to me like Chiappa reproduced the 39 with an aluminum receiver and less finishing to keep the cost down. Italians know how to make good guns and if it is really $300.00 or so I would be willing to try one. That said, I actually like my Henry H001T better than the 39!
