I’ve got a couple of Husqvarna chainsaws that have the black engraved tag riveted to the case. I understand how to read the serial number for date of manufacture.

Question is - when I see Sweden at the bottom, is that the country of mfg? I recently saw a 455 and the tag on it said Brazil - which I assume is also country of mfg? OTOH - I’ve looked at a few ‘s’ 400 series at Tractor Supply and there is no riveted serial tag. Where is the serial tag located on these saws?

Thanks!

Do you remember which series numbers they were? I have a 435 from TSC and it has a serial tag in the typical spot, I had a 455 from them also, but gave it away so I can't check it, but pretty sure it also had a serial number tag too:

Some tags are under top handle on clutch side of saw.

I tore down a 346 NE one time. There was a plastic decal/sticker under the handle mount on the clutch side that had same data as the riveted tag. I also have Echo saws with and without riveted tag. Those without a tag have info embossed on the case, but not what I would call engraved. Stihl has serial number on cases that can't be seen when assembled.

I think with Husqvarna's there is quite a lot of places in the world where they are assembled.
Foe instance I had a Husky 36 made in usa on the plate and found out from a husky dealer
the smaller Huskies were made by Poulan. I had a mate by a Husqvarna 36 the same as mine
and on the tag on his it had PRC which stands for Peoples Republic China. I have heard various
reasons for this and one is Husqvarna make the parts and send the to assembly countries to
put together and another one is they chase cheaper labour. I think all there bigger saws are
still made in Sweden . Somebody else on the site may be able to add to this and put you
on the right track
