I have a burris xtr II 5-25 on my savage just like the one Clint posted I believe. Tracking is excellent so far, gets a little blurry from 20-25x but not bad, I can still spot my hits on steel at 1000.

I like it much better than the PST line of Vortex. I may end up with something like that for the spring until I have more time to shoot. I just want something a little better than the fixed power SWFA

I havent fired the 700 much the past couple of years due to trying to preserve my components stock pile. Fortunately I found a really good load for it early on: 32 grains IMR 8208 under a 140 grain Sierra Game King at 2.75 oal. Got home from work with enough daylight to give it some exercise today. Last group of the evening was 3 shots into an honest inch at 150 yards, I think I can live with that.

2-shots at 490yds with my 264mag using 156gr Berger elite hunters. It’s deadly and fast. It shoots the 140’s just as good. Krieger barrel 1:8.5 twist 4-groove and #8 contour.

I’m a Nightforce fan & LH too but that poor Deer died from a Savage?

Poor Deer.

-Savage action from the late 60’s (factory rifle/action was 264mag)
- Krieger barrel
-McMillan stock HTG
It’s extremely accurate. Even for a savage action. Think that 10-pt only felt a 140gr Berger elite hunter. He never moved.

.264 anything is good deer medicine: a .264 Win Mag is even better.

I’ve just got a lowly .260.

The side job shop has the basic Axis 6.5 on sale for $259.95. Im thinking about getting one just because its always good to have another inexpensive but quite functional deer rifle in the battery. Maybe, we will see...

A hunting buddy bought an axis 1 rifle. I’d personally pass. Quality not in my descriptions of it.
My backup to my 264mag is my 1986 Weatherby mark V in 7STW with a Krieger barrel 1:9 twist using Berger 175gr elite hunters. It also shoots very small groups over 800yds.
