I doubt a 300RUM was ever produced in a pump model. It's a long magnum bolt action.

It could be a 300 savage though. That would still likely be a bolt, but may have had pump options.

Ive got both 300RUM and 338RUM. If you don't mind recoil, they do a great job of preventing any tracking after the shot

The guys not at work yet, but I'm getting more curious...lol.

Any info on savage 7mm 08s? He has one of them too. I'm afraid I might be spending a wad of bills this week.

Nothing wrong with either cartridge from what I know. 7mm08 rounds are gonna be less expensive than the 300rum, but possibly a bit harder to find. The 7mm08 performs very similar to a .308, only with a .284 bullet.

I'm getting the 7mm for sure. It will be for my son. It's a synthetic stock savage (I believe model 110.) I know they weren't expensive models, but I don't know the value. From what ive found they were solid shooters. This gun has a Leopold on it too. He wants 250 for it also... Just looking for opinions.

I asked again today and he says he's sure the um is a REM pump. Should see it tomorrow. :)

Pretty sure if it's a Remington pump, the largest caliber is a 30-06.
Maybe it's a .300 win mag. That's the largest caliber the browning bpr came in. Not a fan of pump action rifles, but I'm sure the bpr is a fine rifle. Let us know

A 7600?

I did not know they offered it in UM.

A 7600 or a 760 are the rem pumps. It could have been rebarreled or rechambered with enough money anything is possible. It doesnt sound like a lot of fun to shoot as a pump configuration. But for the price its a good deal. Guy may just be mixed up on the caliber.

Lol... Not yet. I told him to hurry up. He's been working doubles and really hasn't had time.

Not yet... The guys pretty unreliable... Supposedly it's still on, but it's one of those things. He's like this with everything, but usually comes through in the end.

I can't imagine why anyone would re-chamber a 760/7600 to 300 RUM.... That is a brutal cartridge and in my mind I can't see a pump action holding up to it for beans. Would the 760/7600 action even be long enough to cycle cartridges as long as the RUM to begin with??? Plus, the shorter barrels found on those rifles are not going to be very well suited for the 300 RUM cartridge. Most any mag rifle cartridge prefers a 24" bbl or more to see the full potential of the cartridge, with the few exceptions being the short mags (the WSM's, SAUM's and RCM's)....maybe. But I could be wrong.
