Remington 300 ultra mag

Anyone have one? I'm buying 2 guns from a guy at work and one is a 300 um pump. I don't need it, but I'm getting it for 300 bones with a leopold 3-9 x40 scope and 5 boxes of shells. I hear it's a wicked one, so of course I want it more.

The other is a rem 7mm 08 with the same scope. Trading a 357xp for that one. I have 50 bucks in the saw.

I'd take a 7mm 08 over the 300 personally. Those um's are farking LOUD if you're hunting with them. My .02

Just the shells alone are worth a good amount of coin. That 300 is a hard hitter for sure.

I don't know. It's a Remington pump. I was actually going to pm you, but started this thread instead...lol.

If I keep it, I'll buy dies for it and reload.... I don't need level 3 ammo for this thing.

AFAIK, the Rems never came in Mag calibers. I think more likely a Browning BPR, but I'm not sure they ever came in Ultras either.

I've been around a lot of the Ultra mags and they are barrel burners and tons of recoil. The only good shooting ones I've seen weigh a ton so that rules out a good hunting rifle to me. My brother has a 7mm rum and it takes 99 grains of retumbo to make it shoot worth a crap with any bullet. The 7mm08 is pretty hard to beat IMO. I have two of them and are one of my all time favorites for versatility.

If you are interested in buying the 300 rum I would suggest taking it to a gunsmith and having him check the barrel with a borescope before buying it.

I'll. Post up more when I know more. I really figured on it being a flip after a short stay in the safe. It would be sold scopeless and the Leopold would go on my 06.

I'm with you guys.. I can't find anything on the web about a pump um. I'm just really curious now. Lol.

I'm into guns as much as saws. I've never heard of a pump in UM. I'm curious to see what it really is. 7mm -08 is an excellent choice.

Most 300um I have seen haven't been shot enough to even break in the barrel. There was a Savage that floated around my area for a few years that had about ten owners and still had 10 rounds in the box of shells that was bought with the new rifle.
