I’ve been using the Stihl progressive guides, and they’ve been very consistent for me. They’re cheap too.
This is what I have found to work for me, they are pricey though....may try the pferd version.

I was going to add, but Philbert & sos ridgerider say Priti much what I was going to say..

it’s been said using the stihl progress gauge makes the chain cut more aggressive than the std guide. And that’s on the hard wood setting. If you try it on the soft wood setting it just maybe enough. You have the added bonus that this gauge puts a slope on it for you
But saying this I’ve done the 2 or 3 extra swipes Method , as the last time I milled these were not available.

This is what I use. Works for me. I have used the husky progressive unit in the roller guide. But it’s just doesn’t fit my hands well.
This is what I use too.

Dans your man;; or There are a few of us that could post one, but you never know, some one may have one they don’t use or want abit closer to home. A few have had them.. Iirc some did not like them..

Bump the thread or put a wanted post up. But I,m sure @SOS Ridgerider could elaborate a bit more.

Philbert
That’s the one I use.

Where do you get the Stihl gauge?
I got mine from a friend overseas. I have a few more coming on my next shipment. Not sure when that’s happening, but I may be able to add a few more and send your way. That’s if you can wait.

That's what I figured, but I also assumed that @SOS Ridgerider was referring to the others, so I wanted to clarify.

Philbert
The one you posted up above is what I use.

Have to make friends with someone overseas . . .

This thread is where I first learned they even existed.

If he can wait a little bit, I’ll see if I can add a few to my next shipment.

I'm in no hurry, just trying to see if there is something better. The oregon gauge is "fiddly" and I constantly question if I'm using it right, same as the Husky roller setup.

What chain do you use? I’ll see if I can add a couple of extras.
