Yeah Mike, we'll just leave her like that for now.
Want a swap .. Grey for orange ?Yes that grey cover looks sweet and pretty I gotta say I like the grey top cover on the 42 special better than the orange cover

Il put it in with the Muffler packageLI think so I keep looking at both saws and I grey
Yes I think so but only the cover you can't have the saw back![]()
The bottom pic ... That looks like a Stihl 048 av air box cover ?I just scored these for $20, I think they are NOS and that looks like a 44 or 444 white top in there with a few other 44 bits. Is that the top that the 44 should have?

Early 44's did have a white top, then went to the gray tops like the 61 did.
Most of that stuff you got is NLA from Husky. Good score for $20.![]()
Curious what these weigh...any chance you can scale them? Any way you prefer is fine by me...full of fluids and ready to cut, or empty PHO.
I enjoy the compact saws of yesteryear. Seems the new machines, although strong performers, are getting portly For their displacement.
Good to know. I don't have any other 44 parts, they seem pretty rare here. Any idea what the orange top cover fits?
Im still leaning towards 048 as i think the 042 av has a knob on the cover and the 048 is without. That's what I was thinking too, or maybe an 042. There were two different covers for that series.
I really bought it for the 181//281 pullstart and I like the look of the 051 handle as well.

Yes - 40, 240 and 340.The 40 and 44 may have been on the market together for a couple years, with the 44 continuing longer. My 44 white top has Rancher on it. (It will be in the video) There was also a 340 that I think was identical to the 240. So, there are 3 models in that family that share models numbers with later saws.
