I haven’t seen it this bad here, the East wind is howling here! It’s probably twice as smoky as I have ever seen it here. I know other places get it much worse, but I haven’t seen it here.

Been so close to the ocean it’s rare here, and East wind is super rare, hopefully the fires stop, but it’s really dry here!

I just stepped out on the back patio - it's very warm and smokey - Probably 15 degrees warmer than it was an hour ago.

View attachment 257734 Wifey caught a big one today...77 lbs. It was a bit of a rodeo getting it in the boat! Only fish for the day.

Very nice! We just had all-depths Halibut season here. I talked to some guys at the marina who pulled a couple in that were 65-70 pounds.

Interesting, did not know that they regulated depth in OR.

I think they do the deepwater season first, and then open it up to all-depths based on the kind of deepwater catch they're seeing.

They've been strictly regulating certain bottomfish species the last couple years too. Like right now, you basically can't keep any rockfish and
you can't keep any Cabezon caught from a boat. You can keep one Cabezon caught from shore and I think up until three weeks ago you could
keep one Red Rockfish.

Yeah, we've had an emergency closure on some of the rockfish here this summer. You really need to know what you can and can't keep between Pelagic and Non-Pelagic varieties. I keep an ID sheet on the boat so I know what I'm catching or releasing.
Deep water release mechanism are required even if you are not targeting rockfish.

We got the same thing going on down here - trees down everywhere, the power was off for a while this morning. Here's what the bay looks like currently:

Sunday fun trip. We started at the Coudersport Ice Mine, then went out to Kane to see the Kinzua Bridge. Finished the day with a trip to Benezette to see the elk, and two actually came out where the kids could see them.
