Rough on it? Hell, it looks like they continually fire it out of a Sherman tanks main gun.

A lot of people say that. My 06 2500HD has not led a gentle life from day 1. It spent 160,000 miles hauling 10-16K fertilizer spreaders to and from farms.
That's when I got it. It takes a pounding. Plows snow, hauls wood, junk, gets thrashed through the woods, field etc. I have gone over scales at the scrap yard with way more weight in than it should really have. 193K on it now, and the ball joints are finally showing some wear and will be replaced soon.
They did get greased every 3000 though.

I also see many construction and farm trucks that get pounded and I have only seen 1 def tank that took a hit, and the tank was ok, it broke the shield. Not to say that it cant happen, but that tank hangs no lower than any truck on the roads differential center section..
Just my observations.
Yeah I don’t think the tank is in terrible danger hanging down like that, I just think it’s a terrible eyesore! I also don’t like IFS in general... no reason to not have a straight axle on a HD truck IMO.

My brother had an ‘01 or ‘02 and it was a pile of junk. He picked it up around 175,000. The whole front end was completely rebuilt maybe 10,000 miles before he got it and before it took a *s-word it had to be rebuilt again... and it cost $3000 at a shop! The power was pretty pathetic compared to my ‘06 Cummins (325/625 truck) but I guess it could’ve been worn out. It was at 230,000 miles when it blew a head gasket. The dash lights all quit working at some point, and one of the headlights kept going out. The transfer case was replaced a few thousand miles earlier and that cost $1800. He finally traded it on a ‘17 Ram and I think they gave him $4000 for it.

Not saying they’re bad trucks, and his may have been abused badly before he got it. But that turned me off to ever buying a GM HD truck.

That's a long ways for a saw lol.
I didn’t drive that far for a saw! I drove from Weaverville to Albany, Ca and back to finish up a cabinet job. Then I picked up the 242 in Redding, and the 090 I got from a guy who lives just a couple of miles from me.
