That app is free and can check alot of functions out. If you need to use it on a diesel you have to buy the app to access those options.
And when a code pops up you can click the link to the web to give a more in depth definition of what's it means.

Thats a nice truck too! Dont see many here, they have all turned back into dirt.

Stuff a 6.0 LS in it and go.
Thanks, they are starting to dry up here too!
I am reluctant to do any motor swaps...the 305 runs really good! And gets crazy good mpg for a carburetor motor, the 4-speed doesn’t hurt but it’s been getting 18 in my normal city never driving over 10 mile trips, and I have gotten 22 on the highway, it has the higher compression engine with electronic spark control, it’s not a power house, but gets the job done! Lol
P.s. it doesn’t hurt that the truck only weighed 3800 pounds empty

You can data log while driving as well. It works better on a tablet though.

Ok, question for you auto mechanics. My heated seats I'm my '12 Yukon started giving me fits. I push any of the heated seat buttons and I see the lights by the button light up, I hear the relay click once, twice, a third time and the lights go out. Takes 6 seconds for that to happen.

Also possibly related, I push the seat program button and the seat will only move a little bit and stop. I can keep pushing it until it gets into the programmed spot. The first move is in the back direction and that's the one having trouble. Once it's all the way back and I hit the button again the next move is down and usually tilt forward and it has no problem moving in those directions. This problem seems unrelated though as it's also intermittent and seems to only have trouble in the morning. Once the vehicle has been driven it seems to have mo problem... :BangHead:

Probably the heater blower in the seat has failed. Have done a few of them.

Most likely the slide motor is failing in your seat track. It will only go so far on auto because it senses current draw too high and stops.

If you can get into mode $06 then scroll till you find the $A2 test. This is cumulitive misfires for cyl. 1. $A3 is cyl 2. $A4 is cyl 3 and so on till $A9 which is cyl 8.

There is a few parameters under each test. If any of them is more that 0. That is your cylinder that is missing. Usually a bad coil.

Here is how i navigate mode $06 with a snap on solus ultra. Each scanner or code reader is different and you may have to play with it to get where you need to go. If you look at the last two pics you'll see cylinder 1 $A2 has no misfire and cyl 2 $A3 shows 650 counts. Cylinder 2 would be your smoking gun.

Never knew there was a blower in the seat. Now, how do I figure out which seat is the issue. Neither seat will turn on the heat.

Gotcha. I'm pretty sure I've seen those settings in my reader. I'll have to check in to that. Thanks for your help bud.

Easiest way is to use a scan tool to pull a code if one exist. That will let you know which side and seat or back.

Otherwise its checking each component till you find a problem.

@Marshy are your seats heated only or heated and cooled?
The heated cooled seats use the blower, heated only is elements.
I wouldnt be shocked if all elements were bad either.
I cant recall which years, but if 1 of the 2 elements were bad, neither would work due to wiring arrangement.

Check the connector under rear of seat for green and fuzzy or melted terminals.
I posted a pic of a green and fuzzy not to long ago.

The seats are heating only, no cooling. The back on both the driver and passanger sides work fine, I just tested.
When either driver or pass tries to use the seat and back heating option it goes though the relay clicks then shuts both sides off.

Sounds like your seat cushion heating pad is bad.

Yupper. I can try do dig up or take a pic of the connector for the lower element if you want. You can use a meter to check resistance on them.
Not sure if those were the reasonably priced elements or the ridiculous priced elements.
I can walk you through replacement if you want.
