I snapped this picture this afternoon, after spending more time than necessary cutting this old piece of water pump off to make a garden planter. That pipe is 30" on the ID with a 1/2" wall thickness, and the flange is like 38". My buddy was gonna bring his torch kit over, but he is out of oxygen. Two Sawzall blades and an unreasonable amount of time later, i got it separated.
My plan is to slop some green paint on the outside, and stand it up, flange side up. It will look similar to the Warp Pipes in the old Super Mario games, and I will plant garden herbs (Basil, thyme, dill, chives etc) in it near the house. We have issues with the Japanese beetles eating the good stuff around here, and the flange has a bolt circle that will make adding framework for insect netting easy.
