Had a fun evening tonight. Truck stalled in the 3rd lane of I-70 about an hour from home after work today. Give it 5 minutes and it fires right back up and runs great for 2 miles then just shuts off. Rinse and repeat! Luckily I was able to make it to a nice sketchy gravel lot on a side street. Got a hold of my buddy an hour and a half away and he was able to help me out. I am about to go FPSRussia on this truck!!

Yes, that is a Chevy towing a Ford. Let's hear it! 🤣

Could have been worse. You might have had to be towed by a Dodge.

Damn Steve, that's no good.
Any ideas on the issue?

The brand new dealer TFI module failed. Good thing I paid 3 times what an aftermarket cost. I put another on and am going to go on a two hour test drive running circles on a close 4 lane road. That way if it fails I'm close to home on a road with big shoulders!

Enough for tonight, try to have it stripped down by wednesday for a parts list. Someone has been into some of this before. Scored a cheap 10mm above the water pump. No hand model gig for me. All spark plugs were removed while hot with no problems. Think they may have been done before this. I put them back in hand tight to keep stuff out of the cylinders.

When I was driving the truck on yesterday's test drive I notice the longer it went the more power I lost and the warmer the engine ran. Could hardly pull hills at speed. Got home and checked ignition timing and it was spot on. Pulled out the back pressure gauge and 6psi at 1500rpm no load!! I can't believe the truck even went 20mph much less cruise at 65! Quick inspection shown a melted converter. A quick jab with a prybar and a few revs of the engine and I had substrate everywhere! Runs real good now. LoL!

Got done with a mini fresh up on a 98 cr250104E2C9C-2134-4A55-8DF8-9DA1F3453871.jpegF36D8C50-0B87-406A-9331-0DBB3ABB06B6.jpeg

And the 90 got tore down, bent intake valve, it wasn’t out of time and the the timing chain was tight so it’s a little odd, it even looks like it hit twice, unless it was way off on valve clearance. He said he adjusted it but never tried to start it. Without really knowing, i think the clearance was off and it lightly hit, and the adjustment attempt went bad and it really bent the valve.
