Primer bulb question.

Its not a chainsaw im workng on but my weedeater. The primer bulb was cracked and hard so i put new one on. the new bulb wont draw fuel to carb. So after messing with it for a bit i pulled primer bulb back off and put a couple small fuel lines on each niple and stuck in the fuel can and figured it should draw fuel in one and out the other but nothing. Then i thought i should be able.to blow in one or the other hose and come out other side but nothing. Did i get a bad primer bulb? Or am i just missing something.

I think so to. It wont pump fuel from a can of gas. No bublles or anything.

Sounds like the valve isnt closing to me as well..dont blow to much into the primer feed/return as you will mess the valve up ! The bulb sucks rather then pumps from my experience .

I went and exchanged it. He had a few defectve ones ther. He was gonna go through them later and sort them out. Ill put it on later and giver a try

Usually the primer bulb stops functioning when the carb needs a new kit. The pump diaphragm can stick to the carb body after it gets bad causing the primer to starve or stay pressed down.

Got the new primer bulb on. Its doin what its supposed do. Now it just pops on choke take choke off and pops bit more and dies. Pulled carb off to clean again. Sprayed with carb cleaner gonna let it soak in. Mabe some dirt loosened up or something. Will put togeather and try tomorrow.

Did you clean the diaphragms off real good with the carb cleaner?

No i dont spray carb cleaner on the diaphram.
I got it togeather last night quick and it would idle now but soon ss i hit throttle it would cut out. will have to play with it later.
