As the title says. The power supply voltage does not matter. AC/DC 12v-240. Keep in mind that saving time was the purpose of the thread.

I had a 12v dremel type with a stone and guide. IMO it sucked and not in a good way. Did more burning than sharpener. Post up a video of some in use or links.

Is there any RPM adjustment on the 12v Dremels? I am assuming not. Is that the reason for the burning on the tooth?

Local supermarket currently has a Dremel type grinder, 12Volt DC, Li-Ion battery, 0-22k rpm.

I've been eyeballing it, but so far didn't find a justification to purchase it.

I use a Dremel with diamond stone. Think it's not about rpm, but more about pressure causing burning.

I know sharpening a poor quality chain with a grinder it doesn't take much to discolor the tooth. Be gentle n slow it might change results.

Old post I know. (I'm starting from the back and working fwd)

I use a dremel stone in a variable speed reversible drill for touching up, mainly while milling. If you wanted to remove more material faster, such as on a rocked chain, a carbide burr and more RPM might be the ticket for avoiding heat.

Another funny one, chainsaw cutter belt sander, You need a cordless drill to run it.
They want 285€ + VAT and You do not get a cordless drill with it!
Seriously!!! o_O

Problem with those Dremel or Stihl type rotary tools is if you use the stones they quickly wear and lose their diameter/profile. Diamond bits solve that issue.
True! :beer-toast1:

I want one of those hand powered grinders.
They might be ok once you get the idea of how to use them.
Shouldn't be any burning.
Probably be a collectors item one day
