I'm sure it's the same junk they have been producing for years now. Problem with repairing them is people end up not coming back for them. When I first started as a tech, years back, they had 5 or 6 poulan saws and a few trimmers that had been repaired and noone ever picked them up. I put a stop to it by not repairing them

Good info - thanks for sharing. Still saw the older models, along with the Wild Thing, at a big box retailer the other day. Also the red, 'Predator' version that was heavily discounted on Black Friday.

Websites have not fully caught up yet:

But that 688cc saw sure must be something to run!

These actually started showing up in sears craftsman lineup a few years ago. Looked on the mcculloch international site and redmax is getting put in the mcculloch lineup with the cs35.

That would cost you money, instead of making some. Not sure how that works for you being a chainsaw mechanic and all. The good news is this line of saws was elevated, might not be as bad as you think...
Was more of a joke but typed kinda seriously. lol Problem we face as a shop with saws like these is the cost of them New is so cheap that the cost to fix them after labor exceeds the dang saw's value.

If your shop won't fix them, might consider having them referred to you, the parts are cheap and readily available, and you don't have to charge no where near what your shop does to make a good buck. Just a thought...

I did notice that fact, heck I think I was even able to order a brand new carb for a poulan from PES for like $24.95 retail!

Where is the best place to get Poulan parts?

Thanks.

Philbert
To be honest I don't know where the best place is. I've used several websites jacks small engines is where I got my last parts for one. I don't work on those much at all. Sears sells parts special order I believe.
