Very clean grinding!
Runs good too!Very clean grinding!
Damn, that’s beautiful Mike.
Yup. One and the same. Tried slightly different numbers in this saw and I think it worked out nice.sure looks good. is that the same in in the video yesterday?
Good looking work. Is that a 201?
Yes. Hard to deal with the gap behind the insert. I tried just doing the primaries but I think I like all four.Good looking work. Is that a 201?
The inserts on those fit like absolute crap. Working those over is worth big gains.
Thanks Mike! Yeah the exhaust isn't shaped much from stock. It came in a 97* degrees after lathe work, so I thought I'd try it there. I widened by about 1mm on either side is all. I blended and polished to that. Barely scratched the nikasil on the floor and roof. I have a feeling ill be back in this one. The transfers didn't turn out as I wanted. And I overshot the intake at 85*.....I'm thinking the lowers may need a bit of shaping to increase what's being forced into those lazy looking uppers... Idk. One thing I don't like is that when the intake is opening, you can see both rings at the roof of the exhaust.... Maybe I'll need to epoxy the floor... I'm also looking at maybe that cross MMWS cylinderIt is often hard to tell from pictures, but it looks like you have a lot more arch on the top of your exhaust than on the bottom ... why? You can hang a ring in either direction. Make sure the bottom of the port is well beveled.
I also think you can add some performance by reducing the arch on the top of the exhaust port. It made a significant difference on one of the 660s I played with.
John, what's that little hole in the lower? Also, indeed those lowers are nicely angled!9010 have a very nice lower tunnel feed. Although I did need to raise uppers quite a bit lowers needed very little. View attachment 376263View attachment 376264View attachment 376265View attachment 376266

+1I'd use the Dukes reserve 660 kit before the Cross.
THE DUKE'S RESERVE NIKASIL PISTON AND CYLINDER KIT FITS STIHL 066 MS660
Great port timing numbers right out of the box and consistent from cylinder to cylinder. Nikasil plated, great quality aftermarket cylinder for MS660. As good as it gets for aftermarket MS660 cylinders.www.sawsalvage.co
