I've run both ported and stock 421's.
They seemed sturdy and well built.
Not exciting, but sturdy.
Levi's 023 would beat them handily in 8x8 pine. Not sure the weight difference.

That being said, I still like Dolmars, and prefer inboard clutches. "I'm willing to overlook that though in the case of the 346 and 562" lol

There's more in that saw. Loop of Stihl PS,cat delete, lean it out a little maybe. I run 59dl on a old Windsor . Rips.WP_20160715_001.jpg

Also,German tolerances. Takes them a while to break in. This little saw takes me to the bank.

Hi Niko:)

Hi Niko:)
That is awesome looks like that saw is a lot more then a shelf queen. Does it complement your 6100?

More the other way around. I used the crap out of this little saw. It handles work above its pay grade with no problems. Most smaller saws when they get used outside their design parameters on a regular basis usually start coming apart. There just isn't any new saws this size with this build quality.

Preach it, brother! I don't reach for a bigger saw till I run out of bar on my 420, mine probably cuts 70% of my firewood. My 7300 should last pretty much forever as long as I have a 420 around. I sold my 5100 because I never used the dang thing.

I like sturdy. I just cut wood, I can overlook a couple seconds here and there. I waste enough time taking breaks that it don't matter.

My outboard clutch hatred was renewed yesterday trying to squeeze a 92dl chain on my PM850 when it should really have 93. Add full wrap and a sprocket cover with the brake flag attached, the aggravation factor was about a 9. I got it on though. Hope it stretches enough to go more peacefully next time.

See ya next weekend at Geekfest! I assume Levi is coming as well?

Preach it yourself! Between the ProMac 850,Super 250,Homelite 925sxl and two 262 XP's I have my experience with the outboard clutch. Pain in the ass in the field and not much better on the bench at the end of the day when you're already dog assed tired. But in theory ...

I have a other question outside the parameters here. Since we expect to see increase in psi, does anyone have any experience on how the "easy start" starters are holding up on regular use? Or are problems arrising?
Personally I would consider, as I always do, liberly apply some teflon spray into the starter mechanism.

I think any lubrication will collect dust and gum up the works. Actually I know.
