That's just an opinion -based on how many saws of each model?

I have two 262 XP's bothe with Mahle cylinders and 120 carb. Both with fresh rebuilds with OEM parts. I bought them when my first 6100 was stolen. Ran them commercially. They have paid for themselves.....and my NEW 6100. Same bars, same chain, same wood. The 6100 walks away once the bars buried. Ground work, limbing smaller stuff the 262's are faster. In the thick hardwood, forget it Dolmar wins.WP_20160624_013.jpg
Any questions?

Well how many 6100 have been sold? It would be by that many saws that are better.

The issue was that he concluded his post with a rather blatant "period". When you do that, you better have more evidence than just comparing a few random saws.

Additionally Mr Sawtroll refers to the 262's edge in "power". Let me remind you HP is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you move it. I'll take torque over horsepower every time. After all we aren't racing we're working.

I will say that my 2260 will cut smaller wood faster and limb circles around a 6100 but with bars buried in hardwood the 6100's torque will pull ahead.

Different saws set up for different purposes.
Is the 6100 wearing the same rim as the 2260 or able to run a larger rim?

My 6100 is running a 7 but can put larger on if you like.

Hp is a function of torque and rpm, there isn't anything mystical (or mythical) about torque.

You can have a lot of torque at low rpm, but it doesn't do a lot of work (cutting) anyway, because of the low rpm. This is "child knowledge", and it shouldn't be necessary to post it here - but it seems like it is.

Torque doesn't do anything without rpm (or the other way around), it is as simple as that - it is the combination that counts.

BS, and dyno tests by DLG/KWF put the 262xp at 4.9 hp, and the 6100 at 4.5. About the "torque" thing, see my post above.

sorry I don't get this sub standard low revving thing about the 6100 it's a commercial class saw built to do a job which is handle everything a forester puts its way It's heavy and strong enough to fell and buck trees like EXSW has shown in the photo, basicly on a tree that size there would be only 20-30 limbs too cut on the trunk which will be big limbs usualy under pressure from the weight of the tree and you need that torque to cut them quickly and surely

And cross cutting these trees the 6100 feels like a 70cc saw
I would also say your welcome to carry on and do the smaller tops with your 550/560
And at last dolmar's power figures haven't been exaggerated 4.5kw to huskvarna 4.9kw

I think we got way off track on a great little build thread. I personally would like to be more focused on a 421. And with all this banter it will be hard to get good info about it.

I can't comment too much on the GB bar as to I have not cut much with it. I put a Sugi K095 18" .325 on it and have used it like that after I made a few cuts with the GB to compare the two sizes. The lopro is smoother and leaves a nicer smoother cut, but I love the balance and the extra reach. My dad needs surgery on his wrist and with this setup (light bar and the nice AVof the 421) he was able to trim with me and loved the setup.

With the extra grunt it has no problems with this length or chain. I've put a few tanks through it limbing and it feels stronger than when I got it back from @Red97

Its all cleaned up for the time being but will probably get pulled out today to chop some lumber up from a project.

Did you have to drill the Sugi to get it to oil? How hard was that?
Did you get a chance to run it today?

For comparison the 262 XP. This is pretty much the limit of its practical operational capacity. Excellent performance up to here.
It's Walnut.

Thanks. I'm wondering if the 6100 with an 8-tooth rim might get a little closer in small wood performance.

Interesting point but I wouldn't want to give up performance on the big end. Besides I've got two 262's and a 420 sitting there for the light work.

Hp, not kW - and as I said the 4.9 number is from DLG testing, not from the Husky specs.

A potensial problem with the Dolmar "strato" is that they don't have access to all relevant patents, so they had to "design around" them. Stihl has been granted at least partial access, but no other brands outside the Husky OPE group has.

There is a similar story about Autotune/M-tronic.
