this will be an easy question. for all of you porters has anyone ran their saw before porting with timed cuts then just done case matching and a muffler mod then taken times with the same wood and chain to see if there were noticable gains? I have an older stihl that had good port numbers and came with duel poet muffler and it always ran really strong. i have a husky 357 that i ran stock for a long time and recently had pa dan mod the muffler and it made a difference but dont have any times to go by just my experience with that saw.

It did not confirm or deny anything.

It matters I'm sure but not enough to notice it imo. Might add a tiny bit of grunt done well. Done poorly it will usually add some unwanted case volume. How it is done would determine a plus or minus for most users.

i wasnt saying that you did or didnt. what i was saying is that my suspected result of just case matching the edge of the cylinder would not make enough of a difference to be actually noticed enough to make it worth while without doing full port job
