Controversies like this IH thing are draining as well as distracting. Suggest we all wash our hands of the sideshow and it's never ending comments and move forward. Enjoy the build of this saw and how we came together on it, without jumping back into how the whole thing came about. No need to keep beating up on the other side, and after a week is there really anything new to be said about it? And let's not start any new threads to cover the same ground.

Nice shiny 390 short blocks are here BTW. No pics...…..til I find where the camera is.
I agree never dreamed getting a saw build would turn into while I’m great full for the ones went to bat let’s let it die. I won’t make this mistake ever again.

Randy on a work saw do you see any advantages on polishing the exhaust. Doesn't make any more HP. Also what did you use for a mandrel

If you take the time to really make it slick, then use really good oil, it might make a little difference. But, in most cases it just gets covered with carbon over time. There's also some that believe the layer of carbon is a good insulator and helps take the heat out with the exhaust. I'm not sure about that....but always see carbon in saws I tear apart.

Sorry I didn't give you a simple answer, but I'm not sure there is one.

Hacks can't get it right no matter how good the instruction. Crooks make profit off other people's trial and error without giving credit where credit is due. Imho Jms had skill. Somehow he CHOSE to be a crook about it. Others are just hacks. Some are both. Debatable which is worst.

Either way ... I think this site needs to put front and center the guys who are doing their level best and giving good product and reasonable prices. Gotta drown out the bad with lots of good.

No matter what if a crook wants to steal they will figure out how to do it. I think information sharing does tons more good than feed the bad. But that's just me.

Thanks again Randy.

Well said Matty.

That's unbelievable lol. I just checked parts tree they wanted 299.99 crank only amd baileys was 249.99 crank only.

Parts tree has a multiplier in their system; they are always more expensive. And don't have much real time inventory either. Same for Jack's.

Legit prices are $250 for the case and $245 for the crank if bought separately. These short blocks are "kits" sort of like the wrap handle thing. Some of the reasoning is that most dealers are unwilling or unable to split and rebuild bottom ends, and are unable to do warranty work. These make that more possible and at the same time allow Husky to simply warranty the bottom end and not get stuck doing a product replacement.

They are also offering short blocks for some blowers and trimmers, so there is a general move towards "service kits" to make life easier for everyone.

Part number: 580 66 37 09

That number isn't in the system here in the US.

There's also a part number for a red 90cc case for the 2188 and whatever the Red Max model is; 598 663 709. It's on the IPL's but also not yet in the system.

I forgot to mention that there are also part numbers for 545M2 and 565 short blocks; but again not in the system yet. So, this is evolving as we go.
