Hi guys, I have a nice ported 036 with a wrap handle that runs great but I've got the itch for something new so what do you think. Will I be disappointed with the 362R- c-m compared to my 036? It will be used for cutting oak firewood.

Buy an AWOL 562 or better yet 2260, then have the best of both worlds. ;)

Your thirty six is going to feel lighter & stronger: to begin with.

Lots of folks like the 362.

Ported,
Well, I'm probably not a good one to axe about that.

Full of Splinters, Loose Marbles, & horrible Craigslist Ads.

On the performance end, I believe the 036 will win, unless more progress has been made on the 362 porting.

The new 362s are very light also, and have spring AV and a superior air filtering system.

I would ask Randy his thoughts.

I have a ms362, got it in parts, then fixed her..... I tell ya I like the saw a lot, she has really grown on me, its my main firewood saw... I use the ms461 for anything I encounter that is 20" or over.... but for any wood up to 20", it has worked flawlessly for me...I have not ran a 036 so can't sompare...

I should add that my ms362 was made in 2012 or 2013, and has a fully adjustable carb... only mods are ported muffler and proper tune....

The 362 as others have mentioned would be smoother, have better filtration, and have that new saw smell. Also, I think the m-tronic feature is nice, but I don't own any, so who am I to vouch for that.

Personally though, I think for cutting oak firewood, to see much improvement over a ported 036, you're gonna need more displacement. I cut a lot of oak with an 036 also, and once I get over 16", my ms460 comes out. Of course my 036 is stock.

If I were you, I'd keep the 036 and look around for a ported 70-90cc saw to add to the stable.

I have 2 ms661's one ported by TM and the other by MM and I actually like the mtronic. The 036 got kind of picky about tuning after I ported it and that has a little to do with me thinking of getting the 362 c

I like the idea of keeping your 036 and getting a splitter.... of course then you will need a 70cc saw for the bigger wood LOL!!!

Gotcha! Glad to know you aren't slaving away cutting wood with only a ported 60cc pro saw. :)

It's cool that the m-tronic saws can keep up with the fuel demands of a ported saw.

So, since you've got big saws in your stable also, what bar and chain do you run on your 036 for firewood?

I have a 28" light bar on it just because I'm 6'5" and I don't like feeling like I'm doing yoga when I'm cutting wood that's on the ground :) . The chain is square ground skip. IMG_0009.JPG
