Not much info on this i could find. Curious to know what you guys set your pop offs at. I have gone as low as 14lbs myself and noticed a good throttle response increase, but on other models no difference than the stock spring which is beyond what the gauge will read. Understanding pop off pressure and how it works is still a little misty to me.

so if you have a saw that you played with the pop off and noticed a gain, post the model of the saw and what you set your spring at.

I shoot for 15psi closing. I personally haven’t noticed an increase in power with less popoff pressure. Keeping the metering lever a tad on the high side allows the needle to lift off the seat more and supplies more fuel at WOT IMHO.

@Terry Syd @Poleman

what about better throttle response?

Ignition timing and setting the idle mixture towards the rich side has more of an effect than pop off pressure on throttle response.
So whats the point of it? I always thought it was for throttle response lol

is it just to make sure that it does pop off like CR888 said? Is it even necessary on a chainsaw?

Think of pop off pressure as a quasi inverse relationship to fuel pressure, and mostly at wot. Seldomly does pop off pressure manifest as an idle or throttle up problem.
