I've been experimenting with this prototype that Darius@baltic-abrasives.com sent me. He's sending another with a finer grit to try.

For that picco chain, a thinner wheel would be needed.
I’ll check with my Stihl dealer here and find out if he has any.

This will be a great thing for the small saw / causal user market. Should eliminate most of the file height control issues

The real question now is, can you get hold of some? I really want to see this stuff in 043 because I have now used the 61PS3 pro and it's excellent. If this is as good I really want some

Hexa not only eliminates the problem of holding the file too low (or, much less often, high), but also ensures the same top plate cutting angles and side plate angles for all cutters. I don't expect crooked cuts using Hexa.
Of course, this inability to change these angles, which are permanently set at 60° due to the hexagonal file, means the inability to adjust to existing conditions, which may not be acceptable to some (more demanding) users.

As you may have noticed it is not yet possible to add the chains to the shopping cart. It's unlikely to have been
officially released yet.
In addition, I also have information from the Swiss price list.

I'll keep an eye out over here but I think it will be released in the EU first with a delay before I see it. I can't wait to see how tiny the file is

I bet that darn little file is still 5x more than round file . And that sumink like 10 €…$…£ or what ever symbol you put in front of it .

But I,m sure it will help Jonny homeowner cut better fire wood etc..

They list the file size as 4.2 mm (5.2 for 3/8 RH). P/N is 56077734201.

Comparing the recommended price from the (latest, not official yet) price list, the Hexa file is 2.1875 times more expensive than the round one, so it's not so bad. Especially since Jonny should be able to get by without a file guide then.

Most homeowners chuck the chain away when it don’t cut because the depth gauges need some tlc. 🤦‍♂️🙄

I had a quick scoot around the interwebs and the 5.2 file price difference is just over 3times the price.
And as fore the smaller hex file it looks to be about twice the price . I know prices will vary abit here and there.

Anyhow if someone wants to pay more for “sliced bread” that’s ok with me if it helps them have quicker & better looking sandwiches at the summer fate .👍😘

Yes, for now the files are, as you wrote, officially many times more expensive (I edited the previous post to be more precise). On the other hand, I have acquired a new price list, which is probably not yet valid, and it is of course possible that it contains errors. In it Hexa files, as I wrote, are a little more than 2 times more expensive than round files. This means that there is a chance that Stihl will reduce their price significantly. Maybe this will coincide with the introduction of Picco Hexa files (4.2 mm)?
EDIT: same price for 4.2 and 5.2 mm files.
