Couple of days ago I wrote
Engine inside is exactly the same as in the 385 only peripherals are different which make the 395 a backhandle saw.

Well this isn't entirely correct. The engines sport some minor differences between 385 and 395, namely the 395 has an
additional mounting bracket for the outer shell which is bolted to 2 connecting threads in the cylinder which are
missing at the 385. That one on the other hand side has a connecting thread cast to the bottom side of the mug, again
to bolt the shell to.
p_395_gehaeuse-traeger.jpg

Carbs are different as well: WT-247 (left one) with 395 and WT-20 with 385. Differences are the throttle shaft lever and the arrangement of the idle screw.

p_395_vergaser_diff_385.jpg

Now this is the saw in its final shape:

It would be a nice addition to my collection of manuals .I know very little about this brand .I do have two P100's I've managed to stumble through by using both Partner IPL and McCulloch 1000 .I speculate some parts might be a little cheaper from concrete saws than chainsaw replacements like bearings and seals .It's a guessing game for me .Shoot me a PM with the price .

I've got the manuals but it doesn't cover the R40 .First let me say Partner IPL's are not the most clear parts lists to understand I've seen .However if I have it right the number for the complete cover for a P100 is 340828 .The best I could do is take a picture of it if that might help .If you could make contact with Scott at "chainsawR " you might be able to figure it out .I've personally had good luck with him in the past .
These saws are not the easiest to find parts for .Fact more like finding a needle in a hay stack from my perspective .Then again if it were easy anybody could do it .

The saga continues .I found what was said to be a complete lower end for the p-100 restoration projects .Which of course has turned into two saws by now .Piston rings don't seem to be a problem .Maybe one set of seals maybe two .Bearings I'm not sure of yet .
I would think with three crankcases I should get enough good parts for two saws certainly .I've got to give my garage a good physic before I even start this .It looks like a war zone .It will give me something to do this winter because the novelty of cold weather left me decades ago .Might get-er-done by spring, might not .

Did a little research on this thing .Evidently the two seal sizes are 15-26-7 and 22-40-6.35 which is a real bastard size .The later sounds like one of those sneaky tactics Stihl uses .At any rate the smaller seal is plentiful ,the OEM larger is not and the pirates on flea bay try to get 35 bucks a pop for them ---hog wash . They make a 22-40 -6 which is plentiful and cheap .Being .35 mm thinner would not make a difference in weather it worked or not .

I have a P100, it's a beast Starts and runs. I would like get the cases, side covers and top painted or powder coated then put it back together. Not sure I want to take it all apart or just paint the cases without stripping it down.
Just have to get at it.

I think if I had a recoil and cover I would almost be able to build another one. Maybe have a McCulloch and a Partner.
I have a couple extra handle bars.

There's a top cover and a recoil on flea bay .Evidently the recoil of a K12s concrete saw is the same . Parts do show up from time to time ,you just have to keep watching it .
I'm not real sure of what the paint code is because it's lighter than McCulloch "sun burst yellow " AKA OSHA safety yellow . Might be John Deere yellow .

I might add this so far has been the biggest challenge of any chainsaw I 've ever experienced .Partner while it was a top seller in the day for concrete saws in this area was never a front runner for chainsaws.I'm winging it .

Speaking of K1200's...
I picked up this ensemble last year, didn't particularly want four more cutoff saws but for $250 I couldn't say no.
All but one are runners and in very good shape, were retired fire dept saws. The non runner just needed started pawls and a pullstart rope, someone had removed them for whatever reason.

Those K1200's with a 14" wheel sold for $1050 in 1983 while a P100 with a 36" bar was $689 . I have the dealer price guides in the manual I just got recently .
Every so often somebody gets hold of a rail/cut off saw and wants to convert it to a chainsaw .My advice is get it running good and sell it then use the money to buy the chainsaw rather than fiddly farting around with a Rube Goldberg contraption .

Going off topic a little bit .I have two Makita ( Dolmar ) 70 cc cut off saws I bought sight unseen from a forum member .One complete one not for $140 and have one running with enough acquired parts to do the other when I find the time . I've already used it enough to more than pay for it .Even at only 70 cc it will got through a cinder block or sandstone slab slick as a whistle . Those 1200 Partners at 99 cc should really get with it .I know in the day according to some local contractors the Partner was the model to get over all the others made at that time .

I did get the replacement lower end today for the P100 .It appears to be nice and tight,no bearing slop .The Mac 1000 I had repaired the bottom with a piece of hard aircraft aluminum because the lower flanges had been broken ,probably dropped .So it's just swap parts from the old to the replacement and then use the rotating assembly on the one that was hung tight as a bulls butt in fly time .I need a couple sets of rings which are relatively inexpensive ,Cabers .Actually all in all this saw isn't that bad cosmetically .I got it off flea bay but somebody tried to sell it from this forum prior .It's under powered and feels like it just needs rings ,simple enough .

I did get some throttle linkage stuff today for the restorations .I've got both the bar plates for Husqvarna and McCulloch and plenty of bars to fit both .A saw this size would be better used with a 32" at least and I have both bars plus some 24" both Husky and Mac . Once restored neither will be used much as I have many that can fill that size in power .---That's the fun part of restoration, nobody ever said you had to use them .The battle is finding the parts so you can run them .

More info .It appears since Husqvarna took over Partner the older parts numbers have been upgraded or slightly changed .For example the piston pin bearing for a P100 saw and the K12 and K 1200 chop saws are the same and the old parts number of 302331 has had the numbers 505 inserted ahead of the former .My word if you look that damned thing up on the net those pirates want 40 bucks for it .If however you flea bay it under Husqvarna 505 302331 you can find them for 12 bucks a pop ,free shipping .These damned saws have been a real pain trying to decipher parts numbers .Fact of all of them I've rebuilt the biggest challenge I've ever dealt with to date . I might not even need them but if I do I don't want to spend a month of Sundays finding them .

Found a piece of a e-clip in a bag I got with the saw. Looking at IPL it shows the one on recoil. When I looked at saw yesterday I didnt see anything. Anyone know or have a pic of this on this series of saw? This is a complete one.

Has anyone tried to attach the 25 "Stihl guides to the Partner 7000+? Are the Stihl pins suitable for the Partner?
