In all the saws I've worked on I must say Partner really stood up to the plate on this one .Stihl doesn't have leg up with Partner on this model aside from being a pain in the azz to work on this one.It is really built robust .I suspect by using this design the Partner concrete saws were so highly respected in this area .BTW these do have Mahle cylinders just like Stihl .
The M 6 flange head hex bolts buried in recesses are nothing but a nuisance to remove .The holes need to be clean as a pin to get an M8 socket on them .If I was to start over I'd have pressure washed that thing first .

It's down to the short strokes now ,a few more parts in transit .I was concerned about one ignition system ,two piece kind .Got sparky, good to go .Fuel lines for one,set of pawl springs for the other .Got new pawls from good ole Bryce out on the left coast ,Partner K700 concrete saw .
These things had been apart already .One had an odd ball cylinder bolt and one some idiot used 13 MM circlips on a 12 MM piston pin .It's a wonder the pin held in place .New clips ,Wiseco on the way .
The flywheel side main bearing is grooved for a clip to hold it in .One had been assembled without the clip and the bearing was driven in too far .It's got the clip now .

More of the saga ,.I got the cir clips today and remounted the piston with a new bearing and changed the rings .The old rings were not worn elliptical which I figured they would be .They were how ever well worn which would be a reason for low compression .Across the ends the new Cabers were .093 ,one ring was .071 and one was .057 .Not rounded off still good and square .

The story continues .The first one is done, running .Damned thing nearly jerked my hand off with a T-handle .Didn't take long to put a D-handle on it .I'm a little long in the tooth to try and be tough guy .I had an 084 Stihl come back on me hard and I could predict the weather for a couple of years .
I'm not certain if I had rebuilt that carb or not but it appears to need it .Looses prime which is stiff check valves more than likely .I think I used up the last of my Tillotson model HS rebuild kits .
It didn't cut bad with a 24" bar and 8 tooth rim,Husqvarna bar with 2100 bar plates .
Parts still in transit for the second saw

I've heard a lot of comments that these things blow a lot of smoke.I think I've figured it out .The oil pumps are driven from a worm gear within the crankcase .Due to the pulsating action the shaft goes up and down with only an O-ring seal .It's going to leak a little bit which will blow oil .In a way that's good because it blows oil into the crank bearing, lubes the worm gear plus an outboard clutch drum bearing .Bad part is it will eventually oil foul the cylinder head deck area and the exhaust port .The oil mix in the fuel you can control by ratio.Tramp oil not much you can do .One of these pumps I did install a new o -DSCN0799[1].JPG ring but quite frankly since it's parts from three saws to make two good ones I forget which pump

Number two together running just dandy .My guess was correct ,coil for a Husky 272 fit right up solving that mystery .This thing has some serious torque .
Between the two this one I assume to be a Partner p-100 super the only difference I can see is the brace going down the side .That trussed up the one flaw in design because dropping it on the rear handle will break the mounting tabs on the crankcase .I may or may not pretty this one up with a coat of paint and decals . Hard to believe it went from this to that

More on this long story .Of the two I hit a home a run on one so far .Never retuned the carb since the rebuild and that one runs like a scalded ape and it isn't even broken in yet ...The other one which unlike the first was not stuck needs some more tweaking .
I also think the second one which I have a 24" Husky bar on needs a new o-ring in the oil pump . It seems to be blowing a tad bit too much smoke from what I see .Now the big question will be what did I do with the extra 0-rings ? This one will run like the wind when I'm through it too .

More on this .In attacking a big pile of oak I've gotten into stuff some with size to it .The dumb azzes shoved it back with a skid loader and it's full of dirt and just one giant mess . Have to drag the pieces out with a tractor ,I'm not that strong any more .
Now the good thing I've got the second Partner p-100/Mac 1000 running like a top and does this thing have some grunt .I'd easy put it on a par with an 066 Stihl ..It's only going to get better as it gets broke in .I'm very pleased how this project worked out .

Ya that dirty wood sucks Al. Ruins the *s-word out of a good chain. Glad your saws are running well. I like mine
a lot even my R440 i rebuilt a few years back.

It eats a chain up .I'd put to semi on it if I could find any long enough loops which I doubt .

Just an update what I found on the smoking saws .It was as I suspected failing o-rings on the oil pump shafts .It took me three tries to get the correct size but once done neither saw smokes . The size is on the bag in the picture as well as the company which actually sells o-ring cheaper on fleabay than direct order .Plus free shipping and I got them in three days

An after thought on this oil pump design .It makes sense if the oil ring was passing oil into the crankcase then a small portion of it that would just end up in smokey exhaust would not be making it to the bar for lubrication .Both these things seemed to lube a 24" bar before I installed new o-rings .I would logically think that volume would be increased with the repair .I've got 32" bars that fit these things although it's doubtful I would ever use more than 24" .I mean after all this is Ohio not northern California with giant trees ,Besides that if I do need some more power I have a couple of large reed valve saws that if needed could stand up to the plate and handle them nicely .

That plus being a collector part of the challenge was restoring them .The Partners were my first ever on that brand and I actually learned a lot .I can't help but wonder why they were never a heavy hitter in the chain saw market like they were in concrete saws .Location perhaps ?

I ended up with these in a saw load and have no use for them. I instruction booklet covering R421T, P55/70/100, and S55/65. Also an IPL for S55-S65. If anyone wants them PM me and I can mail them.

This picture is in reference to another question on another thread .I had mentioned in the refurbish of a pair of P-100/Mac 1000 I used the coil from a Husqvarna 272 .This is the saw .An actual OEM "Ignitron " coil which is a coil and a trigger unit is like looking for a hens tooth .If you do find one it will cost more than the saw is worth .
There is another solid state coil OEM which is one piece but again rare and expensive .These are about 15 bucks aftermarket .DSCN0841[1].JPG

Would anyone happen to know the part number for the roller bearing for the clutch drum for a s50?
My son picked this up for me and the guy fired it up with out the bar on and the clutch and drum came off i guess, that must have went missing.
Thanks
